UK and USA Ban Laptops and Electronic Devices on Selected Routes
The UK joined the United States in banning passengers travelling from airports in several countries from bringing laptops, tablets and other portable electronic devices on board with them when they fly.
Under the restrictions, travellers to the United States from the following 10 airports listed below will be required to put all personal electronic devices larger than a cellphone or smartphone into their checked baggage. Mobile phones and medical devices are permitted but larger items such as laptops, tablets, cameras and e-readers will need to be placed into checked-in baggage. For those guests bound for the US, this must be done at the point of origin.

- Ataturk International Airport Istanbul, Turkey
- King Abdulaziz International Airport Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
- King Khalid International Airport Ryadh, Saudi Arabia
- Kuwait International Airport Kuwait, Kuwait
- Mohammed V International Airport Casablanca, Morocco
- Hamad International Airport Doha, Qatar
The UK government announced that travellers on all inbound flights into the UK from the following countries: Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia are banned from bringing laptops, tablets and other portable electronic devices which are larger than the following dimensions (listed below) into the cabin of the plane. Passengers can still travel with these items, but they must be packed in their checked baggage.
