6th December 2020: Captain reports;
Had an emergency this morning but resolved the issue for now. At 0545 local I woke up to the bilge alarm going off. We diagnosed A faulty switch at the toilet and it was overflowing. I had to toggle the toilet switch back and forth numerous times to get it to stop. We spent the last 2 hrs hand bucket water over board or into the sink. There is a major safety concern with this because it should of never happened. There is only one bilge pump forward of the sink midship but the catchment areas aft are all baffled and flooded. To assess what needs to happen next. We had water over started battery and there is no hand pump to remove all the water, or Included engine room, aft cabin and all other floor boards. There are some safety concerns onboard here and will make a stop in Miami.
I will follow up more when we stop in miami or let me know how you would like to proceed. We have 530 miles left to miami so have time I’m sure we can make it up the coast but would like to stop and purchase an extra bilge pump in case this happens again.
Also the thermal coupling on the stove will only stay lit 25% of the time so has been difficult to cook anything on the small burner
Everything else is good onboard otherwise and we have a hefty supply of fuel if needed. I have pictures to show you the issues of bilge
03rd December 2020: Planned stop in San Juan for fuel
02nd December 2020; Departed
30th November 2020; Captain on board
